JOB SUMMARY:The position is responsible for financial statements and reporting controls for all hotel operations. The Accountant provides financial information support to General Managers and department heads. This position addresses tight deadlines and a range of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Preparation of month-end, quarterly and year-end closing entries.
- Posting of activity to the general ledger, including monthly accruals.
- Account analysis and reconciliation, to include bank statements, inter-company general ledger accounts and balance sheet accounts.
- Preparation of monthly reconciliation's between source records and control accounts.
- Monitoring and maintenance of recording and reporting fixed assets and related depreciation.
- Evaluation and maintenance of internal controls relating to hotel properties including the validation of supporting documentation, accuracy of information received, completeness of transactions, maintenance of accounting records, and physical security of assets.
- Provide support in budget and forecasting activities.
- Participate in the budgeting, monitoring and follow through of capex approval forms.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Collaborates with the other Accountants and department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.

- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Assist the Group Finance Controller in the daily banking requirements and accurate and timely processing of pay transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:CPA (K) Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, proficiency in Accounting IT systems., and MS Office packages COMPETENCIES:The Hotel Accountant needs to be ethical, have ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization. Strong communication skills and ability to focus on client needs, plan, organize and solve problems.
